So I thought to myself, There has to be a way to change this, there just has to be!
So I went to the Adobe forums and found out it can be changed! I'm a happy camper now.
Many of you may have already known this, but for those of you like me who didn't know we had this option, we can change the "background color" or for the technical term, "interface" of Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
For those that don't know how to change it, here are some written and visual (I like visual) instructions. (You can click on the photos and they will pop up bigger to view better, then to close, just click on X in upper right hand corner)
For Photoshop:
Open your PSCC, go to Edit ---> Preferences ---> and click on "Interface".
A window will pop up.
Choose whatever color you want your interface/background to be under “Color Theme” and click "OK".
For Illustrator
Open your AICC, go to Edit ---> Preferences ---> and click on "User Interface".
A window will pop up.
Choose whatever color you want your interface/background to be under “Brightness” by using the drop down arrow and selecting your preference and click "OK" .
In AI you can use the brightness slider bar and customize the level if you do not like the options given.
Have a super fantabulous day!
